ATPL is the highest qualification at pilot level. It is required for people who want to make a career in the offshore industry as a captain, for example. The training is similar to the CPL / IR training as far as the practical part is concerned. However, the theory is of a higher level. In addition, at least 1500 hours of flight time and an ATPL prof-check must be passed before an ATPL can be issued.
